The Independent Herald continues to grow and our readers are now relying more and more on The Herald for their LOCAL news. The Herald has been publishing weekly for nearly 50 years, being an important part of Western and Northern Wellington. For your interest a survey completed by the Marlborough District Council during July 2019 shows how strong free community newspapers are within their region for local news. These residents overwhelmingly chose community newspapers as their main source of information, more than any other media, at 64.1%.
Now you might say The Herald and Wellington readership is different, but the Hutt City Council and Porirua City Council confirm that their areas are very similar numbers and that free community papers lead the way with their local residents.
